About Us
Brumby Wines was established in 2001 on the family property “Sandyanna” in the Swan Hill Wine Region of Victoria.
As history goes, in the early 1800’s, Sergeant James Brumby, having arrived in Australia with the Third Fleet, was granted some land in New South Wales on which he grazed cattle and horses. On being posted to Tasmania a few years later, he left his horses to run wild and they became known as “Brumby’s horses” and the legend of the Brumby was born.
Today the Brumby, having stood the test of tradition, is the official name of Australia’s wild horses. Being tough and hardy, yet majestic and beautiful, has ensured the Brumbies survival in Australia’s harsh high country where survival of the fittest reigns.
Brumby Wines continues this tradition.
